Your DSLR: The Basics – Exposure Control

In this introductory course I will help you get past the “little-green-box-automatic-everything mode” on your DSLR, in a fun and helpful way. Through a no-nonsense style of teaching I will help you understand some of the technical aspects of your DSLR camera. The basics – the fundamentals – the essentials, whatever you want to call it, if you are starting with your DSLR or wanting to move forward these classes are for you. You will leave knowing more about your camera and how to use it – guaranteed.

Purposeful Photography – A Fine Art Project

Find your reason. Make it happen. In this course I will help you formulate an objective to create your own fine art photography collection. An intensive course that pours over 3 sessions we will refine the objective, channel corrections where needed and complete the project within the final class.

WEEKEND WORKSHOPS

Light – See it, feel it, shape it – Control it! (Off-camera Flash)

In this intensive course I will help you understand how light behaves as how it affects your photography. Through a no-nonsense style of teaching I will help you understand some of the technical aspects of light and how you can start to control it. Motivated by subject driven lighting, our day will focus on demonstration of the ideas and techniques that I am sharing with you. We also have shooting time to practice and apply what you’ve been learning.

Our class size is limited (8 maximum) to give you a genuine opportunity for learning, shooting and instructor feedback.

Pre-requisite:    SLR camera and intermediate/advanced knowledge of its operation. Items such as ability to control exposure, focus, and camera operation WILL NOT be covered in this workshop.

The Environmental Portrait

In this one-day intensive workshop I will help you understand how to create stunning environmental portraits. Environmental portraits are personalized frames that include situation to help explain the subject’s character. Through a no-nonsense style of teaching I will help you understand story, arrangement of elements and subject driven lighting. Natural light, strobe and blending of the two will be explored in the course of the day.

Our class size is limited (8 maximum) to give you a genuine opportunity for learning, shooting and instructor feedback.
